we frequently use gabapentin in hospice, with good results, for neuropathic pain. we rarely use pregabalin...it is too expensive.

On my unit, we use gabapentin all the time for neuropathic pain.
We tend to shy away from using pregabalin because it's got some abuse potential, and my unit is a detox unit: my patients are already at increased risk for abusing it.

I suffered with coccyx pain after the birth of my son - he was a 9 lb, 10 oz baby and I'm a relatively small-framed woman. It was determined that the pain I was suffering was nerve-related, and I was prescribed Neurontin. I found that it helped quite a bit. It didn't take the pain away completely, but when I combined it with ibprofen or stronger pain medication as needed, I was 100% pain-free. Now, after two nerve blocks I am free of pain and I no longer need medication. :)
