Neuro ICU at St. Joes

Specializes in generalMedical surgical; MICU/SICU/CVICU.

I was wondering if anyone knows how the working conditions are at the neuro ICU/ neuro-surgical ICU with the Barrow Neurological Center? Do they hire per diem/on call/supplemental RN's and provide training if that person doesnt have experience? Also, what the pay rate is for a per diem RN? How do the RN's treat each other? I wouldnt want to work someplace where it is man eat man.

I have been surprised to find that I can call hospitals and easily get pay rate data and information on requirements such as experience. I notice that you haven't yet received a response on the board yet, so I have a suggestion that might help you get some of the info you seek. ---You might try calling the hospital's HR department and ask for the nurse recruiter and put these questions to him or her directly.

Specializes in NICU.

Working conditions/ratios are very good at that hospital, all around.

They've got great orientation programs for people with no experience in those areas.

I'm not sure about the pay, just call HR and get a rough idea about starting pay for someone with your experience.

I don't know about that specific specialty area, but the hospital as a whole have great RNs that are very team oriented and nice to each other ..... it's been voted one of the best places to work in Phx for a few years.

Specializes in Emergency Department, Neuro ICU.

The pay for a new grad is $23 an hour in the Neuro ICU at St. Joes. I was just offered a position there today.
