Hey you guys, just wanted to vent a little. I am from Michigan and I took the net test at one of the cc and failed the reading miserably. I passed the math portion with a 93%. I studied my butt off but obviously wasn't good enough. I bought the book and studied questions off of HFCC site and thought I was fully prepared but when I saw the test it seemed totally different. Im a little discouraged but I will press on, even though Im so nervous now. Any words of encourage or anything I can do to better prepare myself? Any study guides out there that would come close to the type of questions on the reading part?

You should do a search on this forum for the Net Test and you will find a lot of helpful information on study guides. I also failed the Net test the first time because of the reading. In my case I was too slow of a reader. I downloaded a speed reader software program and was able to pass the test the second time. Good Luck!

Porkey,
I am so sorry. I know the NET is a lot more difficult for some people than for others. I passed, but I was very disappointed in my reading portion, as reading is my best subject. I made an 85% on it. It is a scientific reading comprehension, so it is going to be more difficult than the usual test, but it is still passable. Just make sure that you answer EVERY question. That is what gets everyone. You run out of time and leave quite a few questions unanswered and it ends up hurting you. Even if you don't know the answer, guess. If you see that you are running out of time, go through and answer as many as you can with the time that is left. I have looked for various NET test practice websites, but I didn't really have any luck fiinding anything. I just say to go back to the http://hfcclab.info/NET/index.htm website and go through all of the info and practice tests and any helps that they have. Just keep practicing on that reading!

I'm so sorry you didn't pass the first time. I'm in Michigan as well and take the net in the fall. I'm quite nervous now.
There are a lot of study guides out there. Good luck to you the next time. I'm sure you'll make it.
What sort of math is on the net? I'm afraid of over-studying if that's possible.
Good Luck to you!
