NET and Banner Nurse Fellows

Published

I just got back from taking the NET, and scored pretty respectably, a 77 on the math and 70 on the reading. Actually, I can't believe I did better on the math than the reading part. I think I was just so worried about time I kind of sped through the reading passages and didn't concentrate like I should have.

Anywho, I am thinking about applying to the Banner program and was wondering, for those of you that have been accepted, how big of an emphasis the selection committee puts on the NET scores. I mean are they looking for scores in the 80's and 90's? I took it early so that I could re-take it if necessary, so just wondering if I should or not.

Any input appreciated.

I'm not even sure they looked at the NET scores. I took the NET because you need it to apply to the MCCD program----which following that, you can apply to Banner. Banner has a separate application you need to fill out. I'm sure the panel gets your MCCD app and scores as well, but I'm not sure how much they look at it.

Thanks for your response. I did go to the meeting in December, and got the application and was looking at it last night. I know you have to attach a copy of your NET scores, I just wasn't sure if they give a lot of weight to that or more on your interview and essay questions. I am hoping more on the interview and essays.

Unfortunately, because of the pre-req changes eff Jan 1 of this yr and now the changes with the Banner program where they require 202 to be done prior to applying, it has set me behind. I will miss the deadline for the March 2009 cohort by ONE WEEK....:banghead:. Oh well, it is all good.

Thanks again!

I know that Banner takes into consideration your NET scores, your GPA, your application essay answers and your prereq completions into account. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you how they weigh all of those things out when determining whom to call for an interview and final acceptance though.

I work for banner health, and if you are an employee, you get an iterview. I know interview week was comming up so i called and talked to the program director to see when would I get my interview, and the woman was very rude and nasty to me, I do not plan on doing that program, and I only work for banner because its close to home. Just becarful signing away three years of your life to them!

Wow, I am very shocked as this is the first time I've ever read anything negative about Banner. But I too was very weary of signing the three year commitment. They do say though in the orientation that you can get out of your contract by paying off the debt if you really don't want to work for them. I decided to wait it out and now I am going to EMCC and paying for it myself. It is difficult, but if you put your mind to it, you can do it :wink2:

Does anyone know if Banner will look at the NET taken at ASU? Its the exact same as the CC one (I've taken both, but my ASU scores are a but higher). Thanks!
