I am in the process of quitting my good paying job to pursue nursing.
I found a lpn school with no pre-req's required that I am going to apply to in NE arkansas (jonesboro).
I am very nervous about the pay, I have been hearing horror stories... 10.00-11.00 bucks an hour? Seriously?
I plan to go right into the RN program as soon as I am done, but I need to pay some bills while i'm in the process! lol
Someone please tell me I have been misinformed! I can go to Lowes and work for 10.00 an hour!
I just don't know what to do....

I don't know about Jonesboro, but I live North of Fort Smith, Arkansas and most Nursing Homes pay about $15.00 and up. I have seen clinics around $11.00. The hospitals, I believe, are somewhere between $11.00 and $14.00. That's around here, surely there cannot be that much of a difference in Jonesboro. Hope that helps

Wow....my aunt is an LPN and makes $24/hour (which doesn't go very far in the northeast)....what a difference location makes! Would it be worth it to try the RN route right away instead of LPN ---> RN?
It would be worth going the RN route, but in my case I had to do LPN first. Eventually I would like to do the LPN-RN program.

It should be more than 10 an hour- I live around the Clinton to Harrison line and the nurses makes more than that. I would say between 18.00 and 25.00 but that's only a guess since I'm only a CNA but good luck to you

My mom is an LPN working in Fort Smith and makes about $18 per hour at a nursing home. I know they pay more than the hospital, but I'm not sure about the difference.

May I ask which Nursing Home and how long she has been there? I am still going to school for the associates part of my degree, but I will be done in July and will be looking for a job. If I am being too nosey, I am sorry and I will understand if you don't want to answer.
No not at all. I don't know if I am allowed to post the name, but it is located on north 50th st in fort smith (the only one on the street). She has about 12 years experience as an LPN.
what do you make as a cna if you dont mind me asking, and where at in arkansas do you live
