Hello, thanks for the encouragement. I believe in NEVER, EVER burning bridges...the nursing community is big, yet small, and you never know who you may run into professionally. I just feel nervous, can't help it. I know I'm probably making a bigger deal than need be. It is my first time giving notice to a job, so I guess that 's why.
I think too, it's because they are very short staffed as it is, and I (think) I am well liked by the staff, so I don't know. Mixed emotions. BUT HAPPY AS HELL I'm LEAVING!!!
I am facing the same issue. I have to give a one month notice as well because i start a new position in may. Although i love my current position, this new position works out so much better for me and my family. I don't even know how to begin to write a notice letting them know that i will be leaving soon. But at the end of the day we all have to do what is best for us.(that goes for you too). This new position may open up even more doors for you so i say go for it. After all we're nurses, it's good to experience as much as you can. I think all will go well for you . Good luck.
Ok, so some of you read my other posts...I am giving notice TODAY. My immediate supervisor is NOT in (of course, that's my luck). But my assistant manager is. I HAVE to submit this thing, because my new position starts in about a month, and I need to give them one month's notice. I am so nervous, my stomach hurts. Please tell me it will be ok. I feel so bad...but I am so excited for my new position, it is going to open so many doors for me! I am just scared..need some encouragement.:tku:
Just relax, Kid. You have another job. As I understand it, at least here in Jersey, the law is you do not have to give them any notice. Giving them or they giving you two weeks or a month notice is tradition not law. But I don't see your problem. Are you upset because of the time between this job and starting the new job. If, in the future if you need a reference from your present employer, all they can say is that you did not proper notice, that's if they are stupid. No hiring person is going to put much stock in you giving them less than a month notice as long as it's not one day notice. They will put more stock in the job that you did then how much time you gave a previous employer. Even if this job gives you a bad reference, there are people that take care of unfair references - they are called lawyers. Right now you got to relax. Don't make yourself crazy. The world is full of Nursing jobs. God knows I've been firer from enough.
