I just finished my first semester of nursing school and have been offered a wonderful opportunity to shadow and even assist in a shock trauma operating room for the summer. I haven't experienced something like this before, so I am nervous that I might get light headed or queasy. Does anyone have any helpful tips on how to handle seeing some major injuries?

What a great opportunity!!!! It's not unusual to feel queasy with what you will see. Many before you have needed to leave the room but overcome the feeling with time. You just want to stay out of the way and let someone know. I'm wondering where this is? Shock Trauma at U of Maryland? You will see and learn so much.

I worked shock trauma and it is incredible. You will learn so much. Remember to use C spine precautions on cervical injuries. That means log roll.
