Needing Some Career Advice!!!

I'll try to make a long story short. I worked on a telemetry unit for a little over a year. I rather enjoyed the unit. The things I did not like were tolerable, you know the things you learn to live with. I came into nursing thinking that I wanted to be in the ER. I transferred to ER and have been down there for about 4 weeks. I don't like it at all. Many of my coworkers are not so nice, that is a whole other story for another day. I miss working the floor. (Never thought I'd say that.) I would like to leave and try travel nursing on a telemetry floor. I'd like to stay at the hospital I'm at now but per diem. I have not said anything yet to the management or supervisors. I have put out aps for travel nursing. I don't really want to say anything about leaving until I know if I get a travel position. The issue is they will be calling for a reference and then my current supervisor will know. Anyone have any ideas of what to say and when to say it? I have a case of the guilts here. I'm open to any advice.

Yes.... "nursing is something that I enjoy and respect and there are so many possibiities. It is vital that as a nurse, I find my fit- as I am sure every nurse strives for. My "fit" is a place that finds my contributions important and fellow co-workers respect the good work ethic that I have. I believe this unit may not be a good fit for me....."

This is a phrase that I can repeat in my sleep but have not used... yet!:o Long story!

Good Luck to you! You will find your own words... just look at what is important to you and bring that across in your message.

Thank you! That is an excellent way of saying it.
