I find myself using this forum to vent alot.
I went to HS in the caribbean, and although I have two college degrees that I did in NY I still have to submit my HS transcript.
Anyway, I already have my application and all college transcripts and recomendations submitted, and all thats left is the HS transcript. Granted that the deadline isn't until May 1st, the school's process is a rolling application, so the sooner i get it in before the deadline the better. Cause once everything is in, it will be foward to the adcom once completed.
I called my HS in the caribbean since LAST MONTH, the beginning of last month, let me tell you that was DRAMA in itself, to get them to UNDERSTAND that I need to have my transcript sent out. After a million phone calls and faxes, I called to confirm that they got the information that I faxed, and they said yes and it will take 2 weeks to process and mail out. Its now December, I did all this crap since the beginning of NOVEMBER, I just called the school I am applying too and they told me they haven't recieved my HS transcript yet.
OOOOOO This just Boils my water!!! :angryfire
Now i have to spend MORE MONEY calling these SLOW PEOPLE and go through ALLLL this crap AGAIN!!!!! Why are people SOOO SLOWWW with doing things!!!!! WHY WHY WHY is it ALWAYS an issue!!! Whats it going to take to Just find the dag-gone transcript, photocopy it and put it in the mail!!! :angryfire :angryfire :angryfire
Sorry but everytime I have to do anything important when it comes to back home, it just burns me up!!!!!!!!!!!
ugh, I am so disgusted.
Thanks for listening
:lol_hitti I am not lying....it is for real, they made me take the CLEP in German so that I could fullfill the foreign language requirement and graduate with an Associates in Arts ( I was born and raised in GE and came to the US in the early 1980's), To initially get into college I had to get a GED and take College Entrance Exam (forgot the name of that one)
Ah...well, I can understand that; I knew a lot of South American students at UT who took the CLEP test in Spanish to knock out their foreign language requirements. I tested out of 19 hours of French myself. :monkeydance:
One thing that I can honestly say is that I have NEVER felt discriminated against by any one college professor, and I had lots of those at different colleges in the US. Everyone has been super supportive of me and usually enjoyed having me in class, even the not so popular professors.I work hard and I make them look good

Enjoy your stay in the UK :smiletea:
Hang in there.
I think Americans like foreigners in general; I've never seen anyone treated badly simply for being foreign. I like to think we're more welcoming than the British are; I've had some pretty rotten experiences here. I don't want to badmouth a whole country, but...

Sorry to hear that, just think what would happen if I showed up there, considering that I am German (got US citizenship in 1991).....
I had 4 years French back in Europe. It's been a while since I had the opportunity to speak French and would need a serious refresher course. At SAC are a lot of students from all over the world and every once in a while you meet someone that you can chat with in French or other language and I love it...also have a friend at my son's school who is from Haiti who I can practice French with.
Hang in there and I hope you get to come home soon....there is no place like home. I try to make SA my home, my kids were born in the US.

There's definitely no place like home.
Have you visited any of the German settlements near San Antonio? I doubt many people there speak German anymore, but it might be kind of interesting.
I know this is off topic, but just wanted to say hi. It is nice to hear there are some other nurses here that are originally from Germany. I'm originally from Augsburg, I've been here since '94
It's very nice to meet you. I am from "Preussen" and was born near Bremen
Frohe Weihnachten :Santa3:

Yes, I have, we've been to Fredericksburg and New Braunsfels is just a couple miles North of us. The language is fading, the old people are dying out. However there are some organizations that are trying to preserve what they call "Texas German". I read an article in the SA paper about a professor at UT who recognized the problem. Maybe I could get envolved in something like that in the future.
