Need ur best advice .. NCSBN or Kaplan?

Published

Hi everyone , I have 7 weeks left before i'll take the nclex exam and been practicing questions in PDA lacharity and Saunders Review questions ,.. Is it okay to have the NCSBN or KAPLAN online for the remaining weeks? What could be ur best advice for me ?

Ncsbn didn't help me at all....

There's a free qbank app that I downloaded on my iPhone, that's from Kaplan....

I would recommend hurst review online. From what I recall it took me about 6 weeks to complete that. I took it one time and I passed with 75 questions.

Good luck!!

What's that hurst review online? Do ineed to buy that or i will just download it for free?

It's about same price as Kaplan and also has money back guarantee if you don't pass first time, but about 80 or 90 percent something pass on first try. Check it out online - just google hurst review online.

Ncsbn was about 60 bucks, but I hardly used it. It was just too boring for me and was pretty much an outline of info that you would read online. Depends on how you prefer to learn, determination, and motivation. But, I used ncsbn and hurst review and nclex 4000

did you do the kaplan q trainers? They are free and very nclex like quesitons.

Specializes in Pediatrics, Emergency, Trauma.

Used NCSBN, which made me much comfortable when handling the NCLEX...had a ton of questions that were similar when I went to take my NCLEX. I highly recommend taking the three week course, just for the questions alone, as well as a review if how the makers of the NCLEX propose rationales. Worth the money, and more reasonable than a Kaplan Review.

I spent 66 bucks on the Saunders online course which was the same content as the book, but I liked how it had 100 question tests after each section that also showed how you ranked with others who bought the course. At times it seemed too simple, and I questioned that I needed to do more than Saunders....so I did the Priority book by LaCharity...and that was amazing! I question what makes us think we need to spend 100's of dollars on these courses after we were smart enough to make it through nursing school! I passed in 75 questions last week. The test was nothing like I thought it would be, but NOW realize that the CONTENT factor was all I really needed from Saunders...the rest was up to me to think and apply. I am sure what ever you choose will help....but know the money doesn't solve all things........Good Luck...you will do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am excited for you!

Thank you, do u have any free links for kaplan qbank?

links for kaplan question trainers are all over internet! I did not take Kaplan review, did question trainers from internet! I paid for NCSBN review just to make sure I practice as different styled questions as possible. I can't say if it was helpful or not because questions that appeared on the NCLEX were quite different from NCSBN or Kaplan or 3500 or saunders! so I would suggest practice questions from as different sources as you can! And if you are not confident about the content (I was not) read Saunders twice! :)

Took Kaplan first time for my nclex and failed. Kaplan is good for learning how to use strategies, I found their content videos and book difficult to study from. I'm going for my second nclex in less than two weeks and have been studying off of NCSBN. I did the 5 week review and enjoyed it very much. It was easier for me to understand; it had some pictures and great charts and mnemonics that helps you remember important facts. At this point I'm doing PDA questions, taking the quizzes from NCSBN, and then I will be doing some Kaplan Qbank and NCLEX 3500 questions. I have less than 14 days and now it's just prepping with lots of questions because I'm comfortable with the content I know. Also, the study guide from this site helps alot...some of those facts showed up on my NCSBN content course. Goodluck.
