hurst review i found very very helpful
make your own review sheet that you review on a daily basis i used: lab values, infection control pneumonic (sp), drug suffix and prefix
infection control very big on the exam i took
Thank you so much for reply....I am reading Saunders book 4th edition...and doing some questions from the cd of that book. Is that helpful?? What else can i read?? I get very confused with the name and side effects of the medications and assessment of each disease condition.. i cannot memorize that all.. is there a easy way to memorize that all??? I am really worried and depressed about that...
Pls help me out...

You don't need to memorize but rather familiarize yourself with the hallmark of a specific disease, for example Koplik Spots for Measles. As for the medications, familiarize yourself with the suffixes, for example -lol for beta blockers.
Read every night before going to bed your Labs, Normal Values.
Most importantly pray and pray. Good luck!! :)

what did u use the first time to study?
I did the same book.. Saunders for N-CLEX RN 4th edition... I think the way I studied was not correct....So I need some advice regarding that...
I studied the whole thing of Saunders book and tried to memorize everything which made me totally confused when I gave N-CLEX RN for the first time and i was unable to identify what assessment or side effects comes under which disease condition or medications.Since there are so many things to remember. So now I think that was not the correct way I studied.I would like to change the way now. I got some replies and I am trying to work on that way. I would be very thankful if I get more ideas . So that I can work on each of them. I am thinking to give exam on march 2009 again...Is that a enough time for me?? How much hour do I need to study? I am really depressed...Plezz help!!!!

@S2008: hey, cheer up, no use contemplating on the past.. ^_^ I'm going to take the NCLEX exams this year too, maybe by April.. I've read a lot from these forums, and it is my first time to get info on NCLEX, and I've hear about Saunder's book numerous times. I've also read that taking practice questions is the way to go, and I think they're right on that because like you've said, you focused on memorizing too much, they said focus on familiarizing yourself with questions instead of memorizing too much.. Hope this helps! Good luck and God bless!

Hi, I'm not sure exactly how u studied previously, so I can't really advise on how you should change. But I think knowing your content is very important. My test was all content-based and so were the rest of my friends'. Every other question was...what's the symptoms of this...side effects of that. Test-taking strategies or doing alot of questions will not help you figure it out if you don't know the content related to that particular disease.
Since you have a lot of time, I would suggest doing 1 chapter a day from Saunders or a review book of your choice. If it's hard for you to memorize things, just pick 3-4 key symptoms to memorize for each disease. And for the drugs...don't stress over every single detail and every single drug. I'd recommend familiarized yourself w/ the cardiac/hypertensive drugs, diabetic, parkinson's and antacids/PPI. Just know the basics...treatment, take it day/night, with or w/o meals and 1-3 key side effects. Also create a study schedule and devote to it everyday until you test...try not to skip unless you really have to, because studying everyday will keep the information fresh on your mind as well as helping you memorize them. Goodluck!! You can do it!!!
thank you so much for the suggestions.. i'll try to work on it....
