When you say 'elective practice placement' what are you looking for? Are you looking for general or specialist experience, adult or children's? Is this primary or secondary care? Is it in the Home Counties you are looking or are you wanting to travel further afield? You will need to give us more information about what aims and objectives you have for this placement so that we can help you...

The only problem I could forsee if that most hospitals/ primary care areas that accept students are usually full to bursting with students already. These areas are usually work with a university & those students would take priority over you.

I know you want your placement away from where you are at the moment but don't forget you will have extra costs due to this.

Certainly we (a child branch intake) had students go to London (GOSH), Northern Ireland, Birmingham and several other hospital outside our area (Edinburgh and the Lothians) - most are fairly receptive if you ask them early enough and even better if you have a contact.

In light of recent "global instability" university insurance is often not covering going abroad now as it used to so check what your uni's policy is :)

Best wishes to you!
