Need an 86 to pass

Published

Good evening my fellow students and nurses!

Well, next week is supposed to be my graduation date - May 9th. But, I need an 86 to pass with a C. I don't know what has been the problem this semester. When I go to review my test, my professor said that I get the harder questions right, but the easier questions wrong. I just don't know what to do right now. I'm so sick. The thought of having to repeat a semester is scary. There is no shame in repeating, but when you have small kids that you've missed out on doing a lot of things with, the thought of repeating sickens me. My head feels as if it's about to explode, and all I do is cry. Any ideas, words of comfort? ....that would be greatly appreciated right now.

When I read this, I said hmmmm...I would hate going into finals needing such a high grade to just pass. I would be worried. So much on the line...good luck. I have 3 small kids. 3,7 and 9 and currently I have 90 averages in My classes.

Also, check to see if your school has a success coach that can helo you with your weak areas.

I understand what you are going through. At this point think positive about the situation. If you pass that's good if you don't learn from your mistakes and repeat and move on and graduate. Not everyone has a A average in nursing school, but a minimum passing score is required. I did the same thing as you I got the hard questions wrong , but over thought the easy ones. Go with your first gut answer, it's usually the right answer. If you are religious I would tell you to put it in God's hands, no matter the outcome. Good luck on your final exam!

Go back to that professor stat, and have her go over those different types of questions to show you exactly how and why you missed the "easier" ones. Now. First thing. I am betting that this will give you an "Aha!" moment that will make it possible for you to do better on your final. I've seen this many times. Good luck!

Thanks guys! Well, I took the final, and got an 81!! ...so close... At least I get to come back in the fall. Very blessed to have so many fellow students, nurses, and faculty that are rooting for me. Excited for what's to come... Still hopeful that I will become a nurse in 2014!

I felt the same way when I took my med surg final. I needed a 74 to pass and was scared to death that I wouldn't get that. Very little room for error. I could only miss so many. I passed and I don't know how I did because i guessed on a lot of them. That test was really hard :/

I've only gone up to Med Surg thus far in my nursing education but I can say it is definitely THE hardest academic course I've ever taken. I got off to a rough start thinking I can just skim the materials and know them - well that's the easy part - the questions on the exams didn't test knowledge, they tested application and just when I thought i knew the material, i realized I didn't. Thank God I was able to dig out of my own hole in time. I would estimate that in my class of roughly 60 or so, at least 10 people didn't make it. And those are the ones who stuck it out til the end, I'm not even including the ones who dropped out mid semester or got cut off because they didn't pass the skills lab or the math portion. If I did, it's definitely closer to 20 or more, so around 33%. Scary.
