I work for skilled nursing/ nursing home . I feel overworked and somebody always calling out .. Love the work but not happy with patient load. Too many skilled pt for one nurse and something always happening.. Never getting off on time. charting is crazy, Plus not appreciated by management.. Help, thinking bout a MD office until go back to school for RN.

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

I used to work in SNFs/nursing homes for six years. I've been there, done that, and wouldn't want to return unless I was on the verge of homelessness due to the stress level.

I currently work in a rehab hospital and enjoy it on most shifts. In addition, rehab is one of the practice areas in the US that still hires LPNS.

When I say rehab, I'm referring to freestanding rehab hospitals, not nursing home rehab/SNF.

Yes I'm been thinking about an rehab place down here to go to that is a hospital. Idk the benefits at my place now r great and i think thts whts holding me bk.. Thank you for the input :)

Omg you just gave me a flash back and I got a headache with the thought of charting and working in a Nursing Home!!! Yes I remember the work load.... I was the only nurse on nights for a whole floor of subacute of 40 patients!!!!! Straight out of nursing school. Great experience but never again! 4 years and I switched to home care, 1 patient at a time. It allows me to focus on my patient. I am also going back to school for my RN so my job is a lot less stressful.
