Need Information - Pre-Nursing Student Loads of Questions - Help.

Published

Hello Fellow Nursing Students and Nurses alike..:yeah:

I will be or hope to Attend Passaic County Community College, Paterson New Jersey soon.. AND...

I have millions of questions, but to start off here are a few. I am 26 I have finished all my pre-requisites except for 2 classes about 3 years ago - I want to return to school and finish up my Nursing Program.

1. What should my GPA be in order to be considered into the Nursing Program. I am thinking I would like to re-take two classes as I had gotten C's in them. (when i was not so serious about school):p

2. After Passing The NET or whatever they call it now, I will be taking the Nursing Classes correct? After completion do I automatically become licensed to be a RN or do I have a final test upon completion of the course?

3. I will be attending Passaic County Community College, if I am able to afford schooling, is the waiting list almost near impossible to get into the Nursing Program.

4. Once schooling is over, getting into a hospital (preferably Chilton Mem. Hospital in Pompton Plains) is it hard? What kind of shift would I be looking at starting and what type of salary should I expect and what would a beginning RN be expected to do. Please from personal experience is fine.. :loveya:

5. Is there a job at the Hospital that I can do now that would help me with my schooling and schedule. I currently work as an Admin./Office Manager for 4 years for an appraisal company and my schedule is set so working my way around school is difficult, I need to work full time - as I own a home and have all the joys of paying bills with that. Prior work experience has been in Customer Service and Banking and Retail all in the course of 10+ years. :typing

6. And, I almost forgot - What's is the costs for insurance (which is required by my school once in the nursing program)?

ANY ANSWERS TO THE FOLLOWING AND RECOMMENDATIONS IS SOOOO USEFUL - EVEN BOOKS TO GET TO HELP ME AS A STUDY GUIDE I LOVE READING AND LEARNING EVEN IF I AM NOT IN SCHOOL AT THE MOMENT I WOULD LOVE TO KEEP ABREAST.... THANKS AHEAD OF TIME! BTW I FINISHED ALL MY PRE-REQUISITES EXCEPT FOR CHEM AND ONE BIO CLASS AND ONE MATH CLASS... JUST IN CASE I DIDN'T MENTION IT EARLIER.

HI

I feel like we are in the same boat at PCCC. I currently submitted my application for the Jan. 2009 evening, and now waiting for time and a response. I took the NET in Aug. and scored at 91 percentile, GPA 3.5. Currently I am taking Micro and Sociology as the last 2 classes to fulfill the requirements. My sister is in the Nursing 2 section, and she said that is really competitive and requires alot of readings. She is working full time weekend, because she has a mortgage and a family to support. If accepted I too, will be working and going to school also. I did in LPN school and I will do it in RN school. Nurses before us has done it before, therefore it can be done. It won't be easy, but with hard work and determination it can be done. Good luck to you, hopefully we will be sitting side by side in the nursing program.:D

YAY kuddos.. i hope we will meet in PCCC one day.. Good Luck n thanks for the words of encouragment!!
