I need some feedback please. I have been a nurse for 16 years.

I recently have become case management certified. I want to know what i should put on my resume as far as casemanagement goes? I don't have any CM experience..... thanks

You could include it in the education section of your resume.

How can you get certification without any experience? Isn't a certain amount of experience a pre-requisite? I'm certified in two areas and had to have experience before I could sit for the exam.

I agree with the above poster. It reads like you are not certified. The certification in Nurse Case Management that is required by many employers of experienced Nurse CMs is not like gaining an ACLS certification. In other words, you cannot take a class from a "provider", then take an exam at the end to become certified. Therefore, did you take a class or sit for an exam? If you sat for an actual Nurse CM certification exam, which one was it?

Many years ago I worked as a Case Manager and was not a Nurse. At that time I took many classes and received certificates in various areas of Case Management pertaining to my patient population. I was not once considered certified by my employers or anyone else. Certificates of completion in Case Management are not the same as being certified Nurse Case Manager.

A little advice: Your best bet is to find an entry-level Nurse CM position through your current employer. If one does not exist, talk to the Director of the Department and let him/her know that you wish to become a Case Manager. He/she may be willing to hire and train you. GL!

I'm not doubting that you have what someone calls a certification. I'm saying that all credentialing bodies I know of require experience.
