I am looking for ideas on simple change initiatives that you can do on your own or with a team that take place in any nursing environment. This change has to be something that addresses current nursing issues like patient satisfaction or nursing retention/burnout, etc.
Example:Putting a reward system for washing your hands the most
Thank you in advance

Patient satisfaction has been done to death! Plus it is becoming detrimental to patient care and I predict the pendulum will soon swing the other way. (I hope, anyway.) Handwashing has been done to death, too, and most of us are sick of the cute little signs reminding us to wash our hands.
How about self-care for nurses to avoid burn-out?
How about addressing retention -- self scheduling, use of unit seniority to get benefits such as working one less weekend per scheduling period, bid into more desirable shifts, claim first dibs on the vacation planner or holiday schedule?
A mentoring plan for new nurses fresh off of orientation?
Refining or revising the skills checklist used in orientation?
A communication seminar for new nurses on how to utilize feedback to improve practice even if they dislike the delivery?
A seminar for preceptors on delivering feedback effectively?
A semi-annual preceptor meeting for sharing ideas how how to teach orientees who learn in a different manner from the preceptor's best teaching manner?

Ruby Vee had me at focusing on the nurses for once and not the patients...
