i need some honest feedback

hi everyone..thanks for reading!! i am a 28 year old female living in california, but may move to new york in a couple years... due to circumstances i was unable to finish college.... i have been working..but my heart is just not into it... i have always wanted to be a nurse..but i felt either so unsure of myself when i was younger and now i finally feel ready to begin.

i want to take a 2 year course at a community college..i have some prerequisites done, but i have a couple more to go... what i reallllllllllllllllllly need to know is.... honestly..how hard is nursing school??? i was a very good student..but when it came to math...forgettaboutit lol i dont want that to hold me back..because i love all other subjects and personally dealing with many health issues..makes me passionate about healthcare.

but so i am prepared mentally.... how hard is nursing school? although i know anything is possible, would you advise working while in school??? and being i am more of a creative person vs mathematic....do you think i am in for an uphill battle..or is nursing more about the heart and passion than just numbers and formulas???

every time i think about truly being able to help others and be a nurse... i want to cry because i feel i have found my calling..but...perhaps because of some self esteem issues from the past..at times i feel....am i smart enough to do this???

soo now that i have rambled on..any thoughts about school and what to expect? thank you xo much xoxo jenn

i cannot believe...... the outpouring of support that i have found in my short time on this board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have beendoing research non stop...and that..along with this message board is giving me more courage to go for my dreams!!!

i want to compliment everyone on this board for a job well done and i have utmost respect for all the nurses/nursing students on here.

as of now i am considering finishing up some prereqs and transferring to a bsn program in the hopes of then moving on to a msn/np program... this coming from a woman whose own parents never even went to college. i am finding the guidance here that i never received from family, because they had no knowledge of higher ed.

I have had the same worries! I have my associates in science and only had to have math for business (just barely touched on algebra). I got an A-, which shows I can add, etc., but I still spent most of my 20s trying to choose a major that did not have any algebra!! Finally, at 35, I have decided this is silly and I am going to be a nurse... math or no math!!! I am getting ready to take intro to algebra just to get comfortable and I can't wait! I have purchase some "math for dummies" books and they are very helpful. As for A&P, I had it five years ago and really enjoyed it. Tons of memorizing (understanding how the heart really works almost killed me!), but when you stop and think about the human body and what it does and what it is capable of, doesn't it just blow your mind???? I loved school before and can't wait to start nursing school!
