I recently moved to CA with my husband because he got an engineering job here. I was an RN in Canada (on mat leave after graduating) and sent my stuff away to CA BON as soon as we got here (november) because i didnt know how slow it was. Now that i see i may be waiting years before being able to work i am really disappointed and starting to get stressed out because the longer i wait to work the more skills i am forgetting!
Can i cancel my application with CA and go through a different state and endorse to CA? Or do i have to wait it out?
What are my options now?
Thanks for your help!!!

Hi!
I'm a canadian RN as well. I think you should go with minnesota board of nursing, they easily recognize canadian schools compare to other states. I went trough them and awaiting to write the NCLEX next month.
can i do that while i have an active application with CA? Can you do two at the same time?

I don't think you will be waiting years but they do their own assessment where other BON's you may need CGFNS. Average wait for foreign trained nurses tends to be 4 ish months with Ca ( there are a couple of threads on Ca if you do a search) Most other BON's have a similar waiting time before you can sit NCLEX.
Sure Suzanne will be along and give a better opinion on what your options are
Good luck
