Need Help with Scenario

Hello, I am a nursing student in my last quarter. I was given the following scenario: You are the evening charge nuse on a busy unit in the 104 bed county hospital where you live. One of your patients needs every four dressing changes and there are never any supplies when your shift comes on duty. Or, if there are supplies, they are not the correct ones. What do you do? I was to find sources on how to solve this problem. I am having trouble coming up with information. Any help would be appreciated.

    In reality, I would walk around to other units, find a nurse who isn't busy to let me into her supply room since my badge does not give me access to any supply room but my own and then collect supplies from other units until I have sufficient supplies to complete all dressing changes on my shift. I would then email or speak with my manager and tell her we are not equipped with the supplies we need to properly care for our patients. Nothing will be done about this and the hospital will continue to advertise its absurdly high US News and World Report rankings while we spend hours looking for a functioning thermometer.

    If this looks like it's going to go on for a few days, get central supply to issue the patient a day's worth of the supplies every day and keep them in the floor store room labeled with the patient name; communicate this to all shifts. It is remotely possible that some will not be used; some places will let you send them back to the central supply if they are unopened and have not left your store room, and some will not.

    This simple....if you are in your kitchen and are trying to bake but all your supplies are in the trunk of your car.....what would you do?
