Given: Cl2 = 58 kcal/mole ------> 2cl

1. 58 kcal/mole is the bond dissociation energy T F

2. 58 kcal/mole is an entropy term T F

3. this reactin is endothermic T F

I dont understand none of it. I have been wacking my brain over this. Any help woud be appreciated.:crying2:

sorry chemistry was my weak point but Welcome to allnurses.

I could've helped you with this when I took a year of Chem, but to be honest the second I got my last A I cleared my head of as much of it as possible. If you're still looking for feedback I'd suggest a Chem site or a Chem tutor in your science lab.

Good Luck!

Chemistry, Yuck! My deepest sympathy to you. Good luck!!!

I might be wrong, but let me take a stab at this. The scenario shows that they've split the molecule.

I say that the answer to the first question is 'True' because the formula shows that it took 58kcal/mole to dissociate the bond.

I would say that the answer to the second question is also 'True' because the number of kilocalories per mole is the amount of heat energy required for entropy.

The answer to the third question is 'True' because heat is absorbed during the reaction.

I can understand your frustration with this stuff. I don't think I've ever seen or heard any explanation of thermodynamics terms that wasn't extremely confusing.

Good luck with it!
