Need help from a palliative care NP

Published

I am trying to get into palliative care but I'm hit with the old, do you have experience? No? Sorry, no dice. I have applied as an RN, same issue. Maybe I can mold my résumé with a sprinkling of a few key phrases from the palliative care perspective.

Thanks

Tim

Does anyone know what the salary would be for a palliative care NP ?

Its regionally specific. Where are you located?

I am located in Maryland.

The hospital is a three system hospital, so the job would include seeing inpatients at three different facilities ( in patients in three hospitals. Two hospitals are withing 20 minutes of each other and the other hospital is an hour away). There is also plans for an outpatient clinic which would include working half day a week in the palliative care clinic as well as seeing patients in the three hospitals. Thanks.

So an update. I am resigning my position in October as that would make it 1 year. It's not for me. So it's off to my next adventure.

Tim,

Sorry to see you leave the field. Was it the nature of the work or something specific to your job? Best of luck with your next adventure.

Specializes in ER, HH, CTICU, corrections, cardiology, hospice.

Not a big fan of going into some of the houses. Who I could talk to, who I couldn't. The regulations. Chasing down Drs, running their gauntlet of office drones. Driving all over. I need more structure. I'm not one that can stop on a dime and deal with instant change. I helped a few people and that was great.

Where do I find the PM?

England? Thailand? :)
