We had to do two nursing research proposals when I was in my BSN program. The one I spent the most time on was physical abuse of nursing staff by patients. There was at least one nurse who had gotten her Master's or PhD degree by completing some nursing research on this back in 1985. I wrote her and she was very gracious and sent me a copy of her research article that had appeared in a nursing journal, a copy of her research tool, and a list of some of the literature and previous research she had used to support her own research proposal. Having sustained a number of whacks by patients over the years I thought that this would be an interesting subject to look in to.
I doubt very much that you will find complete research articles on the Internet for free. Most of the nursing research is in the publications of the various nursing specialties and the best you will be able to get is a synopsis of what is in the research articles. Most likely, you are going to have to either outright pay for a copy of a research article or perhaps be able to get one for free through a medical librarian where you are doing your clinicals.
You might check past issues of AJN for articles that are written on nursing research that has been done. A lot of the Master's students will write and sell journal articles to AJN, RN and Nursing based on what they discovered from their research projects. However, these are usually not the same as the actual research articles appearing in the specialty journals and, in general, do not follow the same format of presentation since they are aimed at a more general audience. An actual research article is kind of boring (at least, to me). After the information they present you on their literature search the remainder of the article is about their method and the statistics which I always had difficulty understanding.
Have you tried checking into Nursing Clinics of North America at your library?

Thank you for your help. I have to go to our library and find a similar study.

Your online school library should subscribe to nursing journals and you can search through those. It would help if you had a subject you were interested so to sharpen the search.
