Need help....No SS# and taking courses???

Published

Hello all, I have question for all...friend of my is asking and I cannot find the answer. She lives in NYC and at the moment she does not have any working papers. She would like to take any course (EKG technician, MRI...or such) but I can only find the college courses (the ones that required SS # or so...) I hope you know what I need...I guess she said there are some courses 6 -12 months where she can just pay the fee, take the classes and after the final exam she gets the technician license....I guess my question is if you have any numbers or any idea where I can find that please let me know and those something like that actually exist or is it worth the money and time. And if you anything that does not require ss# for now (she is in some kind of process)..please help....thanks in advance

I am not 100% sure, however the entire US is tightening the belt on legal status and may not allow for schooling without proper identifications and permission. So striving to be legalized is the key...she should stay on that route if she wishes to live in the US...let alone get services from it.

Thank you so much...that is what I thouht also and that is what I found on the net. But I just wanted to double check.....thanks again

First question, what type of visa is she on? What type of processing is she in? Taking a course like that will not get her any documents to work in the US, remember that a Cerificate is not accepted for a green card in the US.

Honestly, I have no idea on what type of visa she is on now. And I now that she knows that finishing the course will not give her any working papers. I guess I think I should ask my question this whay:

Is there any course (6 months + ) that is not related to any community college or 4 year college. Courses such as EKG, MRI or so on....Thanks again.

Sure there are courses like that, but the issue is will your firend be able to work in the US legally once they finish the program. MRI is part of radiology and takes much more time.......over two years to get that certification. EKG tech is just a short course, you can teach that to someone in just a day or two.

The question is what does your friend plan to do with the course? And the other issue is specific to the type of visa.......tourist visas are only good for six months, and if already hear, no way to go thru a six month course.

Sorry, but without knowing more, there is no way that I can give any input as to what to do.

hi! i had a friend in the my nursing school who didn't have papers o SS. she was studying ingineer than she had changed to Nursing fot the same reason. the Nurse director knew it, and she said as long u can get your cleareance card is OK. because of nurse short any hospital is willing to help in getting u papers.

Thanks....well she has been here long time, she lives here, she has a child (us citizen) and she is in the process of getting visa trough her brother (it takes sometimes over 10 years to get it).

So again, where I can find any info about that. thanks

As long as they have a valid visa, then they are fine.........Nursing will get them a visa to work in the US, other fields that were mentioned above will not. That is the key, nursing will, others won't. Especially just short certificate programs.

Again, just because she has been here, she is still waiting for the documentation thru her brother, and it can be much longer than that. To go and take a program when you cannot use it is utterly useless. And just because she has a son that was born here and is a US citizen, it does not give her permission to work.

What type of visa is she actually on? If she has been here ten years, but is waiting for the petitioning by her brother, chances are she is here without a valid visa. I would be extremely careful right now with that, they are having immigration croackdowns all over, and even are doing routine stops by INS in the US for everyone going thru a certain area.

Unless you can tell me the type of visa that she is on and she is current with it, such as H4 or something similar, there is no way that I woudl tell anyone to try school right now........I have seen several people deported over the past few months and they were even nurses, because of issues with SSN# or visa.

Asking for my opinion? Unless there is a current visa, there is nothing that should be attempted, and you still have not answered my question.
