NEED HELP: How to become a nurse in CAYMAN ISLANDS

Published

Hey everybody!

I'm a dialysis nurse here in the Philippines and I'm planning to work in Cayman Islands.

I've been trying to google out information about how i can apply as nurse there however, I couldn't find any information.

I'd really appreciate any info you can give so i can get started already. Thanks a lot!

try googling 'cayman islands employment opportunities' Have you been there? Seems a bit complicated - you need a job offer before you move there.

ohhh really? i guess i have to find myself an employment agency then. no i haven't been there but i had a talk with a couple of people who migrated there, they said its really easy to get a visa. its because the government is trying to populate and develop the place even more and they are in need of skilled workers and professionals. thanks for the reply.

You might want to pass on that information to the rest of the Filipino nurses because most of them can't find jobs in the Philippines.

That's interesting about the Cayman Islands, I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for sharing.

there are minimal information online about healthcare and nursing in cayman islands.

entry requirements

health

per entry requirements, its up to employeer to seek work permit, not individual. work permit can be extended up to 7 years.

they have 3 hospitals, only one appears to have dialysis unit at [color=#feb01b]cayman islands hospital

there is a new department of health regulatory services dhrs.ky website not yet developed.

cayman islands health services link: http://www.hsa.ky/ has employment info section. i'm inferring from there website, one needs to have an active nursing license from country emigrating from in order to obtain employment. best bet is to contact them directly.

To be honest I don't know anything about the health care nor nursing employment opportunities in the Cayman Islands. The reason I'm responding to this topic is because I visited that Caribbean island way back in 1993 during our stop there during our 7-day Caribbean cruise. The Cayman Islands (two of them and maybe a few smaller islands or atolls) are under the rule of the British. They speak English and they drive on the left side of the road. Since they use the Caymand Island pound as their denomination, everything is expensive for tourists with U.S. dollars who visit that island. Since most consumer goods are imported, the prices are more expensive there than here in the U.S. The island's population is small, the main island is relatively small in land area and if I were to bet, I would bet that the economy is small as well.

It is more developed than Boracay in the Philippines even until now I think. They have beautiful white sand beach but I think Boracay's powdery-white sand beach is so much more beautiful. The main source of income is tourism and offshore banking, but the tourism industry in the whole Caribbean region is reeling from the global recession. I just thought you need to know that so you'd be better informed.

If you can get a nursing job there I hope it pays well because of the high cost of living there. Good luck to you.
