Need help in getting into a nursing school

Published

I have been applying for a year and a half to BSN programs and applied to almost 10 schools. I have finished all my pre-req and feel like I should get in somewhere. My grades are as follow with general requirements for most nursing BSN. Micro...B Anatomy ...C (worst grade in my first year of college)Physio...BBioche....AInto to chem...BEnglish comp..AStats...ASpeech....ACritical thinking....ANutrition...AAnd other supporting nursing classes with either A or BGPA TOTAL 3.6My teas score was a 83.5 in version 4. Yet to take v 5110+hours of volunteering at CHOC children's hospital. Fluent Spanish. MA certified My question would be which BSN would or should I apply with possible chance. For example I know long beach is a no. I feel like I'm missing something or I just don't know. I believe that I should at least get into one school. I would like advice on where to apply CSU INCALIFORNIA. This has been a dream of mine for years and I hate to see when people get in and say it wasn't for them. I would switch positions in their BSN program seat in a flash. I am currently finishing my alternate major at long beach in health science community education. Are 2nd program BS just as hard as basic programs? Any advice or stuff to share please. I'm planning to take the teas v 5 this summer and apply to more csu this year for spring next year and fall aswell as their BSN program. Thanks

Your science grades are pretty weak. That's probably what's holding you back. Have you considered retaking anatomy?

I ave but they won't let me at my college because it's passing. And many other csu said that they won't take retaking courses if passed. But some will. I guess I do have toGet into that. But it's very difficult to get in that course. I was lucky because I ran cross country and track for my school and athletes got priority.

have you made an appointment to speak (in person) to the advisers in any of the nursing programs to which you've applied? i should think that their advice might be helpful. for example, they might recommend something else you could be doing, they might recommend someone else to talk to, they might mention you to the admissions department. look at it as a sort of pre-interview.

It's just frustrating sometimes. But yes I have been going around and asking questions. Some say it all depends how many applicants they receive that's when I know try don't want to deal with me. But Ill keep asking. Thanks.

Since you will be completing a BS in health science (I assume from CSULB), I suggest to apply to the Entry Level MSN (ELM) if you have never considered. It's an accelerated program for ONLY applicants who have graduated with Bachelor in different fields. You may have higher chances since it's less competitive compare to the regular BSN route. Majority of CSU campuses within Southern California offer this route. Also, drop by nursing department for more information regards to there ELM program or check out this link below for more information. Good luck to you!
