Need help from CRNA, NP, CNS

Published

Hello everyone,

While I'm not a newbie to this sight, as I have referenced old forums on here countless times in the past, I finally have the need to post my first question! I need the assistance of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthestists, Primary Care Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists to help me out for an assignment I have. So I can better understand the role, would you mind answering the following questions. You can be as brief or in depth as you want. Also, please let me know the state in which you practice. Thank-you in advance.

1. Why did you choose to be a nurse anesthestist, primary care NP, or CNS?

2. What type of setting do you practice in? What does a "typical" day's activities include?

3. What type of APN certification do you hold and what is the name of the certifying body by which you are certified?

4. Do you have prescriptive authority and do you prescribe controlled substances? If so, what schedules of controlled substances are you allowed to prescribe?

5. Do you practice according to an agreement with a physician? If so, is the relationship supervisory or collaborative?

6. Are you credentialed and privileged by a hospital or health system? If so, what does this process entail at your organization (e.g., are the documents reviewed by only the human resource department, the nursing department, or the medical staff office, a combination of all three, etc.)

7. Do you belong to a professional organization that specifically addresses APN issues? If so, which one?

8. What is your understanding about the DNP program? Do you have this degree or intend to pursue it?

Specializes in psych, addictions, hospice, education.

This would take wayyyy too much time and work for me to type out for you. How about asking people, in person, for your answers? I bet the assignment was to interview someone anyway. Getting your answers written for you online probably isn't the reason for the assignment. The reasons might include developing interpersonal skills and networking with people who might influence your future.

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.
