I have just started my psych rotation last week, and i have a lot of difficulties to answer the following questions. Anyone could help me to respond to those questions? I don't know what kind of answers are appropriate?
1) I can't live in my home anymore because it is budded by the FBI
2)Have they told you why i am here in the hospital?
3)I can feel my stomach rotting away.
4)I must do what God tells me to do.
5)Look at the devil in the corner.
Thank you very much for answering!

Have you approached your clinical instructor with your concerns? There are different theories about the best way to respond to psychotic behavior, and it's important for a patient to have consistant tx. Your textbook should discuss it as well.

I agree with the above post. Some general things that were explained to us is to voice doubt for paranoid delusions, do not acknowledge visual/auditory hallucinations...other than stating that you recognize they're hallucinating but you don't see/hear anything. When they do hear voices ask them what the voices are telling them to do and whether they plan to act on that. Hope it helps.

Yes, do get with your instructor about the responses appropriate to the model you are being taught!
