I live in South Jersey and I am going to be applying to schools for next fall 2004. I am going for an Assoc. in nursing. The three schools i can choose from are below.
1. Helene Fuld Camden county College
2. Our Lady of Lourdes Camden County College
3. Gloucester County College
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated good or bad. Just looking to get other peoples insight.
Thanks Jax0408

When I was looking into Nursign school last year it didn;t matter much since they all had waitlists and entrance exams. I would apply to all of them and take the exams.
I did wind up in a BS program since I had an associates in psych but it was 20 years old. No science credits are given over 10 years so I'd have to take Chem., A&P, and Bio chem before clinicals. That was going to take me three years for another AA. SO for 3 years I get a BS-N.
If you have no college credit an associates can work but anticipate three years. If you have credit you may want to look into a BS-N if its going to take you 3 years too. IMHO.
Good luck,

Helene Fuld has an awesome program, from what I've been told by students who attend there (I've had clinicals with that school's students before). The rest I don't know anything about!

I went to OLL--graduated in 1968!! So, I think they're the best, of course. The administrator was one of my instructors. I hope you go there!

I can't give you any specifics, but I work at Cooper Hospital in Camden and work with many students that come through the trauma ICU. The nurses from Helene Fuld do very well and we even have a new grad from there that just started in our ICU. I have also met with OLL students and it also seems like a very solid program too. Go to the program that allows you to start the soonest.
OLL is also paying a nice bonus for students to go through school and then work there upon graduation. I think it is almost a free ride with some committment when you graduate. One of our RT's is doing that now.

I know I am REALLY late on this one, but I had to comment on the post saying that GCC had problems with accrediatin. I have included a link from the NJ Board of Nursing listing how each of the following schools' 2007 graduates did on the NCLEX.(Lourdes, Helene Fuld, GCC) Out of all 3 schools Gloucester County College students performed the best and they have not had any problems with accreditation since the late 1990's. Other factors to consider in Helene Fuld is a 3 year program as compared to other 2 year programs out there and tends to be a bit more expensive. I know this info. is a way late for the original poster, but it might help someone else.
