need help with bio pre-reqs

I may not be able to get into A&P1 next semester. for those of you that have done both A&P and Microbiology, could I take Micro without having taken A&P first and still do good in the class? Or do I need the foundation of A&P? Also, if i do take A&P1, can i go to micro before A&P2? I ask because i work full time and taking my pre-reqs part time at a community college. The schedules are terrible so for me it's a matter of what i can squeeze into my own schedule and also depends on which campus i can reasonably drive to. Thanks.

you don't need either to do the other, if that makes sense. However, both will help with the other, they over lap a little.

If your school will allow you to take micro before AP then go for it.

I am just finishing Microbiology, 2 wks to go ..... yeah! I took it before A&P I &II. I start A&P I in January. As long as you have at least taken the pre-req general bio class you will be fine. You don't need the A&P first. Good luck!

Yeah, they don't overlap much. My original school required micro before A&P, some do it the other way around. It doesn't matter, unless your school requires them in a certain order. A&P I and II don't even build on each other that much, they just cover different systems. One semester between them wouldn't be a big deal, but I wouldn't let a few years pass since you'll forget the basics.

thanks for the replies. I am kind of a type A personality and the school says chemistry first (finals this week!) before A&P and then micro. but i've met so many people in class that took bio before chem and the school never said anything, so i guess they don't really check for the pre-req requirements to enroll in classes. i have to register for spring next week and the schedule looks terrible for A&P right now.

What does the college catalog say? If Anatomy and Physiology are not required pre-requisites for this class, then you don't have to take them before taking Microbiology. Check the college catalog's list of these classes. This is one of the reasons you should be using it for! They wouldn't let you into a Microbiology class if Anatomy and Physiology were a necessary element to have under your belt first.
