Need help/advise to finding a LVN job

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I graduated from nursing school Sept 2008, took the nursing exam Feb 2009 and got my license April 2009. I have been applying everywhere and I mean everywhere for a LVN job in Orange County, CA but I haven't been hired. I either don't get a call period or I go to an interview and for some reason I don't get a call back. I'm not sure what to do. I want to start my nursing career so badly, but nobody will give me a chance.

Any advice? Suggestions? HELP?

Have you called the places back that you interviewed at? Let them know you are still interested, first of all, then keep looking.

Sorry it's been so rough, have you thought about talking to your teachers at school, having them look at your resume, asking them to do a mock interview to give you pointers?

Well it all depends on what you are willing to get into, there is snf skilled nursing facilities then doctors office then hospitals then psych , acute sub acute you must first determine what you want to dive into, to your advantage you live in the OC so your pay rate will be slightly higher again depending on what you want to get into, as far as being a new nurse most hospitals want you to have at least 1yr of experience acute or snf , doctors office is great if you have a family you will have banker hours and weekends off, downside no overtime if you ever need it and you wont really know how to write orders, pass meds all the good stuff you learn in school, snf skilled nursing faclities will definitly hire you and train you assuming you get good facility go to simplyhired.com there are always jobs popping up and as far as i know country villa healthcare is a good company as far as new nurses and training you look to see if there are any in your area , I hope i was able to help you
