I am currently studying for the NLN RN entrance exam. I just wanted to know what you guys used to study for the exam besides the NLN study guide. I have been told that I will need at least a 150 or higher to even have a chance to get in an ADN program. I found this study guide by a guy named Peter Morrison
http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=nursing+entrance+study+guide. I wanted to know if anyone has used this study guide? If there are any other study guides that anyone can recommend, please let me know.
Thanks,
Bezue

I used the National League For Nursing Review Guide for RN pre-entrance exam by Mary E. McDonald. Mine is a few years old isbn # 0763710628 it is published by Jones & Barttlett Publishers ([email protected]). I got mine at my school's bookstore. When I took mine it had Science, Math & Verbal ability content on it. I had been out of school a long time so I needed the review, my daughter on the other hand was fresh out of school & did not study at all & aced it with no problem. I hope this helps & good luck to you! :)
I thought this might help to let you know what was on my test.....
math section-
Algebra, geometry,ratio/proportion,percents,decimals,fractions,integers.
Science-A&P, basic chemistry,physics,biology
Verbal- comprehension,vocabulary,word knowledge
If you don't mind me asking what was your composite score? I haven't taken college algebra in 8 years. I will definitely look for that study guide. Thanks for your help! I will let you know how I did next month.

This is the same study guide my school recommends. Good luck to you :)
I honestly don't remember....To automatically qualify for admission we had to score at least in the 97th percentile & the cutoff was a gpa of 3.77 this was considered category 1. It was all a little confusing if you had a gpa of say 4.0 but scored in catageroy 2 on the NLN then you dropped in rank to qualify. They had it listed lower in our requirements but alot of people scored alot higher so that pushed up the need to have a high score. I hope I have not confused you too badly. I know I was!! There was alot of people that had the gpa/NLN score listed in our material as category 1 but did not get in because of this. It all depends on how you score compared to others taking the test & could go up/down depending on how well everyone does. There is no wating list & only x amount of people are accepted each year & hundreds apply.... I will say this study guide was like what was on the test. Good Luck to you :)
Thanks everyone for your help. I took the NLN exam in Sept and passed with a 90% score, and was accepted into the ADN program that starts in Jan. '05. Thanks again and God Bless.........................
