I'm planning in possibly relocating in a couple years to Columbus, Ohio to possibly pursue my doctorate or NP or both at OSU with the plan to work at OSU Medical Center. Can anyone tell me what opportunities are available at the hospital? What are the educational opportunities there at the University? I'm not sure at this time if I want to specialize in Psych or Orthopedic. I hear they have a tuition waiver program. How are the conditions working at the Medical Center? Any feedback would be helpful.

that's totally dependent on the unit & staff where you work. Assignments were totally unfair. I lived in Columbus and worked in OSU in the early 90s for three months. I loved Columbus, my patients, the size of the university etc.,etc..

In Columbus there are three major hospital systems: Ohio State, Ohiohealth, & Mt Carmel. I work for Ohiohealth in the ER at Grant. They offer a program called GRAD where for a work commitment they pay for school. I just graduated with my ADN and have $0 debt. I will be returning in a year to complete my BSN on there dime as well. Each time requires a 2 year commitment. They also offer 5 full ride scholarships a year for MSN/NP/PhD education. I am very well compensated and love the hospital as a whole. You may have already made up your mind but if you have not please accept this invitation from me on behalf of Ohiohealth.

Do you have a link you could email me at [email protected]? I am thinking on getting my Masters and don't want to go into debt. I have a cm type job now I love and would hate to leave, but maybe in a year or so I could do this. Appreciate any info you could give me, thanks.

Thunderwolf,
I happen to work at the OSU Med Center, and sent you a message. Good luck with your decision.
