Need encouragement.

Guys Im struggling in Fundamentals. Our community college requires that you keep a C in all classes to continue in the nursing program. A "c" is a 78 or above because we are on the 7 point grading scale and I am just scraping by. In my other class im doing good though.

I need some encouragement, I've gotta get past this course, I CANNOT FAIL! Is anyone else in a similar predicament?

Most of my problem in Fundamentals was figuring out what the questions were really asking. Your best bet is to do practice question from a NCLEX-RN book, that's what helped me...I got an 89 in that class and that was after doing very poorly on the first test, we had 4, including the Final. Also, cover the answers when you read the question...the answers can influence how you read the question sometimes this causes people to read things into it. Hope this helps, just remember if your passing, your passing...even if it's a low pass. In our school we have 2 classes a semester and I always do better in one than the other, but I pass both and move on!:nurse:

I see a lot of people stressing over their first semester in NS, I am too. I have just recently found out that study groups really help. Unfortunately, they do not meet often. I have my second test tomorrow, I am pretty stressed out about it. I could of studied all day and tried to cram and stress myself out, instead I studied a good amount, and am just trying to relax now. The hardiest part for me is switching study habits, in fundamentals you cannot study the way you do for other classes. GL!

I feel your pain, I passed Fund. with an 84% and that was by the grace of god, I kid you not! I was so stressing my final. We had 4 tests and a final and all I can tell you is read, read and read. I dont know what book you use but we used Taylor and at the end of each chapters were Q&A - which I did. Study groups did nothing for me, I did best on my own. We had to get 76 to pass. Our first test was over 12 chapters (eeek!)

I dont have any secrets - just read and highlight. And dont read into the questions - that did it to me every time.

You can do it!

I also would suggest the NCLEX books saunders is GREAT!! it takes the reading and summarizes it...I got a 74 on my first exam, then I got an 97,84,80 and now a 90( On the hardest test of the semester F&E!)...I only started using the NCLEX books on this last exam....I too, am still learing on what methods work best for me....nursing fundamentals is a whole new world!! good luck!!:nurse:

I am a senior in a BSN program and found practicing NCLEX questions definitly help. Buy some NCLEX books with questions, answers, and rationales. Before getting tested on the subject, review some questions on the material. It is kinda fun to quiz yourself and most texts give a good explaination of why, if you were wrong. They will help you take what you learned and apply it to situations. Practice makes perfect!
