Need black out shades. What kind?

Published

Working nights. I'm looking for some black out shades and want something REALLY good that keeps almost all light out. What would you recommend?

I took stick-on velcro and placed it all around the frame of my window. Then I bought a tight weave black fabric, cut it a little wider than the dimensions of the window, hemmed the fabric all around, put the other part of the stick-on velcro on the fabric and had a removable window treatment that blocked out all light during the day and gave me a good day's sleep.

I haven't used them, but I recently went to Bed Bath and Beyond and they had some that was recommended by the National Sleep Foundation. I was going to buy them but I will soon be switching shifts, so I didn't bother. Anyway, hope they help!

Aluminum foil and scotch tape! The foil will mold to a good fit out over the window frame past the glass. Keeps out all light and inexpensive!

when I worked nights I bought black vinyl upholstery from the fabric store, the kind with white on the reverse. I cut it the size of the window on the INSIDE of the window. Then I glued it (no sewing for me!) to a tension rod and put it in the window. When I did not need it I just released the tension rod and put everything under the bed.

When I worked nights I bought roman shades in a chocolate from Lowe's. They work great! Nice and dark during the day!:zzzzz
