Need advise

today i attempted the NCLEX RN for 3rd time. On the previous occasions i answered from185to 205 and failed. I believe that it may be around that again and i feel domed again. I tried to focus on my weak areas but thy hardly came up. I used the Saunders full color review and did really well with the format the Suzanne posted. i also took over 6 mths as a foreign trained nurse to develope the confidence i need and i felt good about it. I sat in front of the computer and could not believe it. my weakest area was pharmacology and it hammered me, some i never saw or studied, lots of priority questions and i left i tears like i was beated and thrown out in the cold. does it mean that if i did more than 100 questions i failed again? because this is hoe i feel. What made it worse was when i got home my 10 yr old drew a preety picture of me in nursing uniform and i broke down again because i feel like i failed miserably a third time. Any thoughts?

Hi,

I took the test twice and failed. I am now doing Suzanne's plan for my third attempt. All I have to say to you is don't give up hope. You have to stay positive. You have to do that when you walk in to take your test, or you will trip yourself up.

Your daughter believes in you, and you should do the same.

I wish you all the best, and like the old saying goes, "It's not over till the fat lady sings".

Hey I am in the same boat right now, just took mine yesterday and it shut off at around 145. I feel doomed, sick, upset etc. We need to just keep our heads up until we get the official results, that is what I keep telling myself.

Try to keep busy, go do things with your kids, clean house, shop, a movie whatever to keep your mind off of it.

Good Luck!! I am pulling for you.

Heather

thank you but i only problem is is Florida if you fail 3 times you must do a refresher course. My problem is i can't at this time so if i fail, i can,t do it for a long time. so that is part of the reason why i feel so defeated. thank you any way for your enouraging words and good luc to you.

Goodluck to you and to all of us hoping to pass the nclex exam.

i feel you. i took the test lat dec 9 and failed. i knew from the time i finished the test that i will not make it. i phoned my husband to pick me up from the test centre and when they came, my 5yo boy kept screaming and yelling on top of his lungs "mama you will pass mama" and hugged me and kiss me said dont worry, you will pass. i will take care of you. i dindnt say a word. we all hope to pass, did our best and still not enough. its a part of life. what matters most is concentrate on what we have right now. a family, friends and job if there is any. do not wait for the result. enjoy your time while it is under process. go out, have fun, smile...and most of all, pray...

i cried not because i failed, but because i failed my family's expectations. but then, they understand the situation. they helped me cope up. made me smile. and now, i am here again, getting ready for the next boxing event ;) hope this time, i will be the winner:P

dont loose hope...its free:))

PS: ISM cant u not take the test in another state if that is the case in Florida?

well i do wish you the best of luck and thank you so much for replying to my thread. It is only people like our selves who have to write that exam, can truly understand the pain that is involved. I am happy for all those who have passed and hope we will be joining some day sooner than later. good luck to you. Also the failure does not mean you are not a nurse. It only means you are not a good test taker like myself. In my country i was considered a top of the line nurse and today i wonder what is happening. Not all of us can do examinations but highly skilled and competent nurses come from people like you and i. God bless you. Irene

you're right; I will keep face and be with my family. I do not necessarily need piece of paper to love and have a family. they are important and love me any way. Good luck on you next try.

i think you can. altho you need to ask permission to the BON you wanna apply for like CA or in any other state. it might mean u need to submit all the requrements again. I have known someone who took the test in texas and failed and she took the test in washington and passed. Dont quote me with this but it is better to visit the sites of the BON where you wanna take the test.

best of luck to you.

thank you; we'll do. I will se what happens first and go from there.

ISM, don't give up until you get your results. Believe in yourself! You have gotten some great advice on this thread, be sure to come back and post your results either way.

You and Leilah both sound like wonderful caring people, it sounds like you are both going to be excellent nurses. No matter how many times you take that test before you pass, it doesn't take away the qualities that you have as a person and a nurse. You can do this!

Have you read the Kaplan Strategies book? It teaches you how to answer the questions and it has a chapter for foreign applicants.

Best of Luck, we are here for you!

been there, done that. I appreciate your feedback and honestly speaking i love nursing. I have been one now for 18 yrs, 14 of which were active. I was never a good test taker but dr's enjoyed working with me because i love people and God gave me the gift of compassion. I just love being a nurse. Anyway, thank you for your words of encouragement and support. I will post the results when i recieve it. thank you so much.
