I'm having trouble finding scrubs that fit me properly. I cannot try different brands to find a good fit because my program requires that we buy Cherokee brand only. I'm a size 14 and the medium pants and top fit me but they are snug...the large size also fit but they are a little loose. I need a medium and a half! LOL Anyway, I did ask for the opinion of the woman that was working at the store and she stated that she thought the mediums looked nicer on me. Do you think I should go with the pair that look nicer, or the pair that allows for more comfort? Will the scrubs shrink up at all after washing? If they shrink a little then the large size would fit nicely, however any shrinking will cause the mediums to be unwearable. Anyone else having this issue? What did you do?
As far as cherokee pant scrubs, there are the one's with the elastic in the back, flat front, flare leg and regular. They all have a different fit. I agree with the previous posters, however, for me when I went up a size it was way too big (flare leg), so I had to get it taken in. If cherokee is your only option, you might want to go to a uniform store and try on all the different style cherokee scrubs they have before making your decision. Otherwise, it is definitely way better to get a larger size and have it taken in.
Thanks again for the advice everyone :) I went back and exchanged my mediums and bought large. I am MUCH happier with them and I know I will be much more comfortable with the larger size. I'm currently washing them with the hopes that they will shrink up a tiny bit. Someone said something about nursing school not being a beauty pagent...and I totally agree :) I'm far from a beauty queen and even perfect fitting scrubs won't change that fact! LOL I just want to be sure that I appear professional and presentable :) I'm starting my program this Monday at 39 years old so I already stand out like a sore thumb, so I didn't want to bring more attention to myself by wearing ill-fitting scrubs :) Thanks again for the valuable advice everyone!
The scrubs we can buy through school are also Cherokee, and our instructors advised us to be a size up because of shrinkage. My problem has been finding a size that is LONG enough! I need a tall top, lol![/QUOTE]When buying scrubs, I am always looking at the pants hem to see if there is enough material to let it down and/or put in a false hem. There are some uniform companies that have petite, regular, and tall uniforms. You have to search them out. I believe Dove Uniforms have them, but Dove is expensive but very well made.
I have also made my own scrubs and that way I can make the length to fit. There are some very easy unisex or women specific scrub patterns on the market, and you can make your scribs in the material / color you want.
Katie, I tryed on the Cherokee Flexibles scrub top and loved it! They were currently out of the color that I needed but I put one on order! It was by far the most comforable top I've found yet!
Im so glad you loved them! I really like them! So worth the price. I also bought some Med Couture which are even more comfortable than the Flexibles.

I'm an EMT, and spent a long overnight shift doing patient transfers from one hospital to another last night/this morning. I cannot tell you how many nurses I saw whose scrubs appeared to be a size or two too small. Even though they were young and fit, it looked weird and inappropriate in the hospital setting, like they were trying to be sexy.
It totally solidified my choice to go a size larger.
