Need Advice on TEAS VI!!!

I am about to take the TEAS 6 at the end of September or early october. I am trying incredibly hard to get a 90 or above. I have the mometrix secrets study guide for the TEAS VI, but I haven't purchased the actual ATI TEAS study manual or practice tests. For those who scored really high, what did you do and how did you study?? How was the test compared to what you studied for? Thanks in advance!!

This doesn't exactly answer your question per se, but there is an entire section devoted to the TEAS exam that has some awesome articles or advice from people who did well (there are even a couple of people that scored in the 90s). I would recommend reading over those for sure, but you may find that reading posts from people who may have scored in the 70s, 80s, or did not do as well as they hoped even to be beneficial as well. I found that sometimes you may find realistic advice on what to do or not to do in some cases as well. Posting in the TEAS section will help to maximize your chances of getting a response.

Now to be more useful, I know someone who scored in the high nineties, another couple scored in the low 90s, others who scored in the 80s, and other who scored in the 60s and 70s. Getting tips from all of them (I don't need to take the TEAS until the Spring next year), I gathered that the better you do in your prerequisites, the stronger foundation you have for the exam. The person who did the best studied the least because she/he had an amazing math and science foundation and found that he/she only needed to focus on some other sections.

I was also told to consider purchasing both of ATI tests and their study manual (I have the Mometrix book that I got from my friend because he said that this book tended to give you more detail). You can take the first test prior to studying to give you an indication of where you are currently at or after your first round of studying to see what areas you can brush up on). After doing any studying or additional studying, take the last test a couple of days or a few days before the exam and try to emulate the testing conditions as much as possible. I do hear the second test is harder so do not be discouraged if your score goes down. Brush up on any last minute areas you are struggling with and allow yourself some time to relax and unwind before the exam. You will hear mixed responses on whether or not the test is like the practice exam. I've yes, no, or a combination of both. A&P is heavily represented on the science portion.

You're not alone in feeling like you need to score in the 90s. I feel the pressure as well and I only get one chance! Study your hardest and do your best. Hopefully the time you put in will pay off :)

I would definitely get the study materials from ATI. I decided to go with the manual and online review. I felt it did a great job reviewing all the required topics. Also, the practice tests were critical in my preparations. They provided a great way to see what I needed to study more as well as how to take the test and manage my time smartly. I also used other study materials to augment the ATI material. I ended up scoring in the high nineties and owe it all to the official study material. Hope this helps...and good luck!!!

That is awesome Goldenmoose!!! I plan to take my TEAS in the spring and with changes to my school's points system, I honestly feel like I need to score in the 90s. Realistically, my friend said that a score in the 80s would get me in as 80+ scores are not as common. It is reassuring and motivating to know that there even more people out there rocking the TEAS!

TEAS Mastery app on your phone -- use it every spare second you have to do questions. This will help you zero in on the areas where you need to focus. I used a variety of other tools to prepare, such as Khan Academy, but I did not purchase the ATI materials. I did purchase both practice tests and did them each two times in the days leading up to my exam. I scored a 92.

Good luck on your test if you haven't already taken it yet. I took it a couple of weeks ago and was so nervous. But I ended up getting a 89% and was very happy with that result! I used the ATI study guide to get ready for the TEAS VI, but I found that it was very general and I needed more information. It had been about six months since I took A&P, so I needed some refreshing. I found that I was able to dive in to subjects that I didn't remember as well if I paired the ATI book along with my A&P book. GOOD LUCK!!
