HI there,
i´ve asked a similar question before but things have changed dramatically!! at least in my country.
the thing is I want to move to America and work as a Nurse there. I´m an RN, BSN and before that I was a LPN. So all together i have 10 yrs in nursing exp. I graduated from my RN program in Iceland 2006. I have been working on a ICU ( med/surg/neuro/picu) and ED.
my question is: Is it hard to get a nursing job in America now? Do you know if any hospitals in Boston, North Carolina or Washington are hiring nurses?
hope you can help,

Well, if you do a little research, there is a lot of info on the site about the nursing situation in America. I will try to put it in a few sentences. Because the economy is so bad, there are a lot of hiring freezes all over the country. There are many nurses with experience that can't get a job and the new grads are basicly pass their boards and chew their fingernails cause it's really hard to land a job. There are areas that are more saturated with nurses than others, however I know that Suzanne was talking about the fact that through immigrations they are not giving visa's for nurses to came work here because there are not enough jobs for the nurses here. Try to go to the international forum and you can get more info, but it's looks kind of bleak right now.
Good luck to you!

i am from boston, and can promise you, there are no jobs.
there seemed to be a surplus before this financial crisis.
now it's even worse.
i feel pretty confident when i say that job opportunities overall, are not in great supply.
wishing you the very best.

The availability of jobs is not the problem.
There is no available visa to enable you to work in the US as a nurse right now.
