Hi there, i´m looking at CRNA education, trying to pick some programs to apply to but i´ve got a question I want to ask you. Since i´m not american and studied nursing in Iceland i´m not familiar with this. After graduating from some programs you get a MS degree, some give you a MSN degree and some MSA degree. Is there any difference among these degrees or is it all the same? does it matter which one i get once i start to apply for jobs? Is one "better" than the other? hope you can help me, and i apologize for any misspellings on my part. kind regards, Icenurse

Thank you for the replies, I´m thinking about GA and MA. I know I have to use the cgfns to verify my education, but some states require that foreign nurses pass the cgfns test ( + verifying the education) before they can take the NCLEX. I was wondering if i´d get license ( after taking the nclex) in a non cgfns test requiring state and then move to a state that want´s foreign nurses to take the cgfns test before the NCLEX, would the make me take the cgnfs test before i´d get my license in that state.....even though i have a license in another state. for example : I pass the NCLEX and get a license in GA, i then move to MA (that requires cgfns test before NCLEX). Can i get MA license or do I have to take the cgfns test before I can get the license....? confusing, i know, don´t know how to explain myself better, thank you for your answers, Icenurse

Hi there, I was wondering about the NCLEX test. If i already have passed it in one state that does not require cgfns test beforehand, can I get a license in another state that requires cgfns test without taking it? hope you understand my question, kind regards, Icenurse

Hello there, I´m educated in Iceland as a RN, Bsc. I´m wondering about grad studies in Canada. Can anyone tell me about anasthesia nursing in Canada? Is it similar to CRNA in the USA or more like european nurse anesthesia? could you point me in the right direction of good anasthesia programs? with kind regards, Icenurse

Hi there, Just wondering... so you don´t use scrub nurses at all?? In Iceland we only have RN´s in the OR. Both the circulatory and the scrub are RN´s. It is very important to nurses here to keep this role and great importance is laid upon gettin RN´s to specialise in OR nursing by the hospital. Hope that will keep on beeing the case.. because i love the OR:yeah:

Hi there, I was wondering about nursing in Australia. Is it hard to get a job as a nurse there? is there shortage of nurses? Could someone guide me in the direction i have to take in order to get liscensed as a nurse in your country? HI there, i´ve asked a similar question before but things have changed dramatically!! at least in my country. the thing is I want to move to America and work as a Nurse there. I´m an RN, BSN and before that I was a LPN. So all together i have 10 yrs in nursing exp. I graduated from my RN program in Iceland 2006. I have been working on a ICU ( med/surg/neuro/picu) and ED. my question is: Is it hard to get a nursing job in America now? Do you know if any hospitals in Boston, North Carolina or Washington are hiring nurses? hope you can help, Icenurse

Hello canadian nurses, I´m an Icelandic nurse and i´ve been looking at master´s degree in Canada. But i don´t fully understand your program´s. Can you tell me how your education works. I would like to take my masters degree in Emergency/critical care nursing, but I don´t seem to find a masters program in that area. I only seem to find a research based masters degree. Is it not possible to take a clinical masters degree in Canada? hope you can help me, i´m kind of lost.......

thank you for you´re reply, I haven´t really thought about that yet. I have contacted center for emergency in pittsburgh, beacause many Icelanders study there and they can help me with the visa issues. However i´m also wondering about taking my master´s degree in the US so I would use a student visa fort that. but I have another question, I´ve been told that it´s not a problem for foreign nurses to get visa because of the nursing shortage in your country. is that not true thanks for you´re replies and i´m sorry for any misspellings :)
