I desperately need help with some advice! I applied to sit for the CRNE to work in Alberta but I have been asked to do an extra course in Obstetrics; despite having done a degree course in adult nursing. I have checked with all the universities in London and can't find any place that does single courses in obstetrics. If anyone can help and point me in the right direction, who has been through similar situation.... be extremely appreciated!

More than likely, you will also have to do a program in Mental Health as well.
This is required if you go to the US or to Canada. The nursing programs in the UK now teach under the "Specialist" method, where the US and Canada require the "Generalist" approach.
Thanks susanne, my degree already covered mental health and paediatric nursing. So atleast dont have to worry about that! I am trying to find some short basic course in obstetrics in the UK so that I dont have to do a full midwifery course. So far I havent had much luck as none of the universities I have checked cater to such needs. But thanx for ur reply anyways!

this has recently been discussed with other students who are struggling to make hours up. Not sure if this will help but here is the link to the last discussion. https://allnurses.com/forums/f124/adult-nurses-wanting-work-the-usa-119906.html
Another option is to see if there is anything in Alberta and nursing where you could join just to cover the obs side of things
Best of luck
