Okay. Some of you who have perhaps followed my post over the years may know that I've had trouble finding a job that I'm very happy/satisfied with.
Here's what I've decided I would like out of my job.. I think...
* A job where I stay busy moving around a lot and using my hands and my skills
* A job where I'm not taking care of the same person for 12 hours.
* A job where I'm not constantly worried about getting sued.
* Day shift.
* Not a terrible lot of paperwork
* Not having a nasty doc breathing down my neck.. HUGE bonus
* Great pay... another huge bonus
What do you all think? Basically I would love to have something where I stay busy and move around a lot but have less STRESS. Make sense?
I've thought dialysis clinic, doctor's office, outpatient surgery... perhaps even emergency room? But the ER has always sounded a bit TOO busy and a bit stressful to me.
What do you think? Part of me is so ready to just forget nursing alltogether and just go back to fast food or something.

Your requirements sound a little too good to be true...
But you might find it in Day surgery or PACU.
Good luck

i love outpatient oncology. it can be pretty stressful and there is no such thing as a nursing job that doesn't have a lot of paperwork. but, once you find your "niche" it is easier to tolerate the less desirable aspects of a job. you are on the right track---i can't tell if you are a new nurse or not, it doesn't seem like it. but it seems a lot of nurses look for jobs based on the illness, body part or health condition they think is interesting. but really you need to address what you like your day to look like. you are asking the right questions. you might consider ER in a smaller hospital that doesn't have a trauma center, since you worry about the ED being too much. and fast food would be way stressful in a different way, plus it would suck. good luck!
