Need advice about interviewing with Kaiser Permanente

Published

Hi, I just graduated in May with my BSN degree and just passed the NCLEX exam this past August. I'll be interviewing with Kaiser Permanente, and was wondering if any of you out there work for KP and if you have any advice or suggestions for me? I appreciate the advice/help/support... as I am nervous as can be! :chair: . thanks

Specializes in ICU, PICC Nurse, Nursing Supervisor.

I just want to make a commit. I worked for Kaiser in Texas before they shut down, and I have to say it was the best place I ever worked. Good luck to you,I hope you get the job your aiming for....:)

Thanks txspadequeen921.

I also work for Kaiser as a Per Diem clinic nurse and I love it! The union stuff can get a little sticky, but other than that it's a nice place to work. I'd throw in lots of stuff about how you'd like to make it a long term career, as the employees tend to stay *forever* once they get in. My interview was just a standard interview, so I am sure you will do fine.

Thanks for the advice! I appreciate it a lot.:)

I worked for Kaiser for 13 years, both in their hospitals and clinics. Best jobs I ever had. It's been 8 years ago, so I don't know how they are now. I left because I relocated and there were no Kaisers here.

The nurses tend to stay a long time usually, because of the benefits. So you get to know everyone. Almost a big family. When I left after 13 years, I was only 1/2 up the senority list!!!!!

I even moved from San Diego to LA at one point, and transferred from one Kaiser facility to another. I was able to bring my senority and everything along with me, didn't lose anything.

They are union, and I believe it's still a closed shop. Which was fine with me. The many benefits were great.

Thank you for your reply!!! The interview is coming up this week... I'm excited about it... ready to be put to work! :)

:crying2: Please explore other options before settling to Kaiser once your in you can't get out. Seriously you might want to shop around I've spoken to several new grads who started at Kaiser and did not get a good orientation. People are set in there ways and have been in the system too long to appreciate new people or the thought that ther might be better ways of doing things. I worked at a kaiser in the LA area as a traveler and there were some really nice people who worked there. I've watched sever New Grads and new employees crash and burn.
