Need advice on my game plan for nursing school...

Published

Hi, so decided going to go the CC route. Been told on numerous occasions should do a BSN program and I am well aware of the hospital I work at policy with nurses. Hoping they make an exception :D

Cost wise the CC is my cheapest route with little out of pocket expenses and basically zero debt.

Question is kind of delayed myself a year I feel. Haven't been in college in over five years. I went to NVCC to register for Spring back in December and Anatomy 1 was filled. So decided let me just retake Psych, since back in my first year of college got a D.

Now I could possibly take AP 1 and AP 2 this summer not sure if a brilliant plan or a plan I could afford.

Was thinking of taking a Math Class this summer seeing as NVC requires it for their Chemistry class.

Also thinking of this Summer to sign up for an EMT course just for some side money.

Then in the fall take A and P 1. Is it possible to take A and P 1 and 2 in the same semester?

If I don't take A and P 2 I'll take it in the Spring.

Then in the Summer I'll take Chemistry.

Then in the fall I'll take Statistics

In the following Spring semester take Microbiology

In the Summer take Lifespan

For the fall of 2018 hope to enter a program and not be wait listed.

How bad is the wait list? Sound like a sound plan? I figure I can also apply to Southern Accelerated Program and a Paramedic program as a backup plan.

Appreciate the feedback.

Don't take them at the same time. Retake your psych class.

I am in the process of retaking psych now. I have 3 math classes under my belt from my previous college program. I guess Southern and NVCC want you to have completed College Algebra, so I am taking that online in the summer and possibly an EMT class.

I'll take AP1 in the fall and AP 2 in the spring.

Have to work classes around my work schedule can't go below 24 because I be broke and nerd to keep my insurance ha.

If you're looking to apply to the program sooner, you can take Chem with AP1 in the fall and lifespan over this summer, then you'll have the minimum requirements to apply this fall when applications open in November.

Chem and AP 1 together weren't a difficult combo, and the material overlaps at points. It's good to get used to juggling more than one difficult course at once, plus the lab courses are usually available as minimal as one day per week. I took Chem on Fridays and AP on Wednesdays. Each once per week. It wasn't too bad even with working full time.

Goodluck

I know I the fall it's like that

I could definitely do AP1 and Chem in the fall. Stinker about NVCC is they want you to take a College Algebra course before you take the Chem class.

Might be misreading this if I take AP1, Chem1, and TEAS cam I apply to the CC program and take AP2 in the Spring?

Hmm, I don't think you're loading your semesters up enough. Remember, psychology is going to be your easy class. I'd take chem, micro, and lifespan at the same time but it depends on how confident you feel about your previous semesters. Taking chem alongside a&p is also a good idea. I'm taking micro, a&p2, music appreciation, and weight lifting right now and I could probably take on another class but I don't need anymore. If you don't have any kids and you're not working full-time, it's totally doable.

if you take algebra and lifespan in the summer, Chem and AP1 in the fall you meet the minimum requirements to apply.

You should read the information packet available online under admission requirements. All the requirements to apply are listed. AP1 needs to be in progress or completed to apply, which is why that course is 25% of the admission decision. Teas can be done whenever. You can take it next week if you found an open seat for a test. And you can take teas as many times as you want, they will only consider your highest grade.

AP2 can be done in the spring while waiting for admission decisions.

I applied in December after completing AP1/Chem together in the fall. Applications stay open Novemebr until February. I was enrolled in AP2 when I found out I was accepted into the program.

Cool appreciate the advice. Might hold off due to cost and take one pre req at a time.
