Im a college freshman at A&M (gig em!) and am currently a biology major because i was never exactly sure what i want to do, all i know is i want to help people, love kids and the medical field really interests me. i have been thinking about becoming a nurse, maybe a pediatric nurse because i love kids, but i wanted some input from people actually out there, not just articles describing nursing.
i have researched as much as i can about nursing as a career but am not certain i understand all the aspects of the job.
even though i dont know exactly what i want to do yet, i know i want to help people and make their lives better, and the most basic way to do that is to provide good, supportive healthcare. any input at all is much appreciated. thanks!

Congrats on your A&M status.... Very cool...
If you wanna explore more about nursing, I suggest you volunteer a couple of hours a week at a nursing facility or hospital. Many organizations have programs that will give you a good feel for what a nurse actually "does".
To volunteer you have to go through a few hoops, but you'll get a tremendous amount of empirical data via your experience volunteering.
Or you could ask to "shadow" a nurse for a few hours. You'll still have to go through hoops, but you'll find first hand what goes on.
Good luck in your endeavors....
