Need advice for A&P

Published

okay, here I go -- I'm very upset and bummed! I am a first year nursing student, passed the Nursing 110 course, and I can't for the life of me pass A & P I. This is my second time around taking this class! I took it over the summer 08 (5 week course - it was he**) and then again for the 15 week fall semester. I can't seem to get the required minimal C in this class! I am wondering if I should give up on being an RN. I don't want to, but . . . . Also, I'm no spring chicken -- will be 50 in Jan. I can't afford to keep putting off nursing classes because I can't get past this class! It's so darn frustrating. I get good grades on the lab quizzes -- it's the instructor's main exams that are so darn hard for me! Math and science have always been a bit of a struggle for me. I'm discouraged and frustrated right now. What should I do???

Does your school offer free tutoring? At my school there is free tutoring and it is very helpful. If your tutor is a peer, they could give you advice particular to that instructors teaching style/methods. If that is not an option I would seriously consider taking the class with a different instructor, the new instructor might lecture differently and put things into perspective for you in a way that this current instructor is not. Don't give up! Good luck

Thank you everyone for all the wonderful suggestions. I do agree that A & P is hard, but I'll get through it. No giving up for me! God Bless and happy new year to everyone.

the person who started it breaks down a&p really weell in the notes they have which you can download. helped me out a lot!

don't give up. it is really difficult. not like anything that i have had before. i am 57 and i think "we" have to study a little more than some of the younger people. although i have heard from my past professors that use "seasoned" students realize how important this class and education is.

hang in there, know your are definately alone. you'll get it:heartbeat

I took A&P I and I had A for this class if you need help in special subject I can help you. Just email me

Thanks POMD01. Wow, an A. That's great! I did end up passing the class with a C and I am shocked that I did because I was certain that I had failed when I took the final. I barely made the C, but I don't feel that I really know the material that well. I will be starting back to school on Jan 22 and A & P II is this coming semester. I have gotten some notes that have been posted by others on here regarding A & P and I think they will be very useful. I will definitely keep you in mind for future reference! Thank you so much for your offer to help. I have met some extraordinarily nice people on this site. So glad I have found it. Thanks again and have a great new year.

i really loved the a&p stuff... wonder if i will turn out better in research when i'm done :smokin: i had a great a&p phd, and she really could give you the picture. of course i took them (a&p) together, makes more sense that way. here is a great site someone sent me a long time ago, click on the animations. some good neuro stuff. hope it helps you just a tiny bit.

Wow, I wish I could say I loved the A & P stuff! lol. I just don't. But I know I have to learn it and understand it so I will take all the advice I can get. Thanks. There have been some things I enjoyed about A & P so far but for the most part I really struggle with it. I really thought I would enjoy the class more than I do. I'll check out the link. Thanks and best of luck to you. :wink2:
