Near the Passing Standard

I recently took the NCLEXRN and didn't pass. I did 230 questions and ran out of time. When I received the performance report it stated that I was " Near the Passing Standard" in all content area.

I know that running out of time wasn't in my favor, so what do I do now?

I used

Saunders Q&A, Lacharity PDA, Kaplan Stategies, and my notes from School.

Did I sabotage myself?

Did mine and ran out of time too at quiz 180, how slow was I, I got the report too yesterday and i was near passing standard in all areas except one below and one above passing stardard.... hope you get some feedback from ere to enlighten me too... i didnt do quiz at all last time, i just did pda quiz and study guide and thats all i did... im planning of going through lots of quiz now plus the study guide

I purchased another book that focus on alternative questions, I had a ton of SATA,cohorting patients, and drag and drop.

Which book? had alot of SATAs too, lots of dag and drop, lotsss of conference questions and a bunch of exhibit quiz.....no ekg, and few phamarcology

I purchased that one before my exams but didnt even open a page, have done 2 chapters now.... hope i get through it before my next exams, my goal was to finish this week but i got lazy on the way....

Are you reviewing your rationales?

Do you need some type of strategies to help you choose the BEST answer?

I used Kaplan (book) and the NCSBN in addition to Lippincott, LaCharity, Saunders and ExamCRAM for questions and rationales; I read the strategies in LaCharity and Kaplan to help with questions I was on the fence about.

Also, near in mind that the NCLEX is about APPLICATION and knowing WHAT the question is asking you per the four standards in becoming a entry-level novice nurse:

1. Safe, effective care,

2. Health Promotion,

3. Physiological Integrity,

4. Psychosocial Integrity.

Having a understanding will help in identifying and choosing the best answer(s).

Well my result were the same as your , but I was taking the nclex-pn test. I had all 205 questions with about 1 hours left. I failed also. What I am doing is questions for sure. There were a few words I didn't understand...keys words like ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS. Just doing question everyday this time and understanding them. Good Luck

In the context of key words, have you looked into getting a NCLEX strategy book such as Kaplan?

Essential is a good term to familiarize yourself with; most questions with "essential" are more likely priority questions.

See if a NCLEX strategy book or even class will help.

I failed my first time in 265 questions after taking kaplan and then passed my second time in 108 questions after taking hurst review online. As far as timing goes it really does help to read question rationales when practicing because there are many similar questions all just worded a little differently. I would also advise that when doing practice tests...always time yourself. 1-3 mins per question should be your goal, When I got into sticky situations on the test I gave myself about 3 mins max to think about the harder questions, after that I went with my gut.
