2nd time test taker passed at 130

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I always said would come back and tell people that are taking the test in may my story and those who are 2nd test takers YOU can do it .....

TL'Dr

I passed at 130 the second time under new rules today.. I took the test wed and website updated today.

I failed at 265 the 1st time under the old rules in feb

----------

I and anyone else whose test doesnt shut off at 60/75 or 80 we are not dumb. Dont mentality give up if it doesnt shut off at 60... when it didn't shut off at 65, I took a break at 75 ( I could have kept going ) but I went to the bathroom and pretended it was a fresh new test. Believe it or not .. I studied so hard that I wish that the test was 265 again so I try and get it to shut off before 265...

Dont worry about what your classmates did or what they tell you ... they could tell you it shut off at 75 and they could be lying. There is no possible way everyone test shuts off at 75 that you went to school with.

The reason it doesnt shut off at 60 is obviously you got some wrong in first 10-15 and or you were confusing the computer by getting every other or 3rd question wrong or something.

My Test was a med/surg pysch test. I got 15-17 SATA .. btw SATA means nothing because you have lower end SATA and higher end SATA.. BTW my last question was a easy basic fundamental SATA. I got 3 math questions...my first question was a nutrition question. I had 3 pictures and like 6 drag and drop which were hi end and simple ones . obviously priority was on the test. I was lucky because pharm is my worst subject and only got hit with 2-3 straight up pharm questions.

SIde note : there is no listening section the lady told me that when I reached for the headphones.

----------------------

You can wear a mask if you want to ( you supply your own mask/bandanna) but I didn't because I was the only in there for a hr. they spray down your computer after but your gone by then ...

Yes I felt like I failed when I was done because that was the vaguest test known to man.. I cant even explain it but the test was vague . You are like What???what is this question asking me..

YOu need to read the question 3 times... 1,2,3 times. Make sure your answer is matching up with what its asking you .. for example its a endocrine question, make sure you giving a endocrine answer/endocrine drug/endorine s/s.

----------

what I did different this time was treat this like a full time job. I said I wasnt paying for that test again. I would wake up every morning without fail at 6:30 and do a chapter out of the lacharity book ( YOU NEED THIS BOOK ). when you are done with this book there isn't a priority question no one on earth can ask you that you will get wrong.. after lacharity I would only get 2 our of 25 wrong. and or of the 2 I got wrong one would be a SATA I would be on the fence on ... ( Mark klimek says people pick one more than they need to on Sata)

At 8am I would remediate lacharity while eating.. I would read a chapter on Hurst /Saunders ( or what ever study book you got ) after that I would do a 25 UWorld questions with tutorial mode on from what ever chapter I read. ( every week you need to add 10 questions )

12pm while eating I would reread the day before notebook of remediation and look at labs.

I would 25 priority questions no tutorial mode on .. I would increase that by 10 questions every week.

after eating at 5pm I would do 75 random question no tutorial mode and pretend it was a test.

before going to bed I would look at labs and do 10 pri

I would do this everyday .

Sat morning I would pretend it was test day and do 75 questions at the time I would take the test..and just remeditate the rest of the day.

Sundays I would just do lacharity book in morning and at 25 priority questions at night

----------

I know you wanna know my scores on uworld... well I got very high chance of passing..

As far as my question bank.. it doesnt matter what I got....I know I know I know ..you wanna know . but it doesnt matter because you this isn't regular test you in nursing school are trying to pass. Looking at the percentages would be giving you fake confidence.. you need to see if your understanding the rationales. the NCLEX doesnt care you got a 70 pct on a practice quiz

The numbers on uworld are skewed because people are retaking the questions over and over again. people are resetting the test banks etc etc.

Luckily the first time I failed I found out quick enough to extend my subscription on uworld.. I did 1500 out of the 2400 the first time. the second time I had like 1700 left. I had Hurst and decided that I would just put more effort into it cause we had to pay for it for school. I used Saunders the second time for the pre and post test ... and it gave you a study schedule . I think the lacharity book is the reason I passed the NCLEX. since priority is graded higher.

I listend to mark klimek lecture while playing video games and would look at his notes and YOurnuringeducators notes while eating. the "thing you need to know" for the NCLEX is good also.. its like 35 pages.. I had those pages taped around my computer and in my bathroom walls. and while brushing my teeth or freshing up in the bathroom I would read .

If you got a easy last question and got it right then you passed.

The key is getting all the priority questions right. You should know by Friday...

I took mine on a wed and my license was uploaded Fri at like 3pm . I got the offical pass letter from the mail by like the next Friday

When I failed I got the fail letter the Monday after I took the test in a small envelope from the state...which was dated the Fri after I took the test

I did it! I passed in less than 48hrs my license was posted on the BRN website (my co-worker checked it! LOL). You were so right about the last question because I did answer it correctly! Thank you for posting this article it actually helped me a lot! ???????? HAPPY NURSES WEEK INDEED!!

I got a LOT of SATA like back to back to back. I even silently yelled at the computer “why are you doing this to me?!” LOL ? I got 3-4 IV calculations which I'm pretty sure I only got one right ??‍♀️ LOL, 3 exhibits about wounds and labs, around 10 drag and drops. Last question was easy drag and drop.

I studied for 4 weeks, I only asked 2 days off from work just to relax since its been a stressful month d/t covid. I just studied after work, took maximum of 65 items per day using UWorld. I only used UWorld. I took the NCLEX 9 times (yup! 9 effin’ times) UWorld was the only one that worked for me. I did not want to take it at first since I felt like I wasn’t prepared since I haven’t been studying. But my ATT was about to expire on the 10th and I did not want to wait another month because to be honest I don’t like studying, like AT ALL. So I told myself, “just effin do it.” So I did and passed ?

Truly motivating!! 9 times and you did not once give up! You could be my nurse anyway!! I know you would not give up on treating me!! My God! Thanks for sharing!

Did you use lacharity 3rd edition or 4th edition to prepare?
