if you are in your 2nd semester what systems have you studied and what system are you on now?
Week 1-iv and blood therapy, pulmonary disorders (first test)
week 2-cardivascular disorders, cardiac disorders
Also a tip for studing- We had a study group at my house the night before the test I have one of the NCLEX BOOKS WITH CD we went through the whole pulmonary section and each question we missed we went to our notes for that disorder and studied befor going on to the next question.
We had 5 people in our group and the lowest score was a 86 compared to the class average of 78

I am taking Med-surg (this is my second semester of school)
The first week we discussed Fluids & Electrolytes, IV Solutions & Acid/Base Balance (all that for the first test-3 days of lecture)
Test I is on Thursday
End of first week/second week- Perioperative Nsg (pre-, intra-, post-op), Shock, Trach Care, Thrombophlebitis & DVT...we still have Hemorrhage, Resp. complications, Inflammatory Process, and wound complications to cover for the second test.
Test II is supposed to be on Monday.
Last semester I did really well, I have this gut feeling it won't be the same this first 8 weeks for Med/surg! I have been meaning to buy an NCLEX book w/ a cd-rom for practice & studying. However I am low on funds for the time being...just got my "Fluids & Electrolytes Made Incredibly Easy" book today even though I bought it on E-Bay two weeks ago!!! (Don't know how much it will help me for this test now that its two days away).

just started school this Monday (Med Surg 1) We discussed the stress response and today started pre operative and took a math test. Thurs & Friday are clincials. This has seemed harder than last semester already...

I'm doing Peds, OB, Psych, Research, and Informatics. I still haven't gotten all my syllabi, but I can tell I'll be doing a lot more writing this semester. Not to mention a lot of getting up at 5 am!

the first week back we did perioperative, plus any associated complications and disorders. This week and next week we are doing OB, in skills lab so far we have done sterile dressing changes, wound irrigations, drain care, discontinuing IVs, and catheter insertion. We start clinicals next Tuesday. I won't find out until then what my first rotation is. Probably Med-Surg.
Later!:)

We've covered immune response, inflammation and perioperative nursing in my med-surg class (referred to as Adult Health I at my school). Other classes I'm taking are research, mental health and gerontology. Clinicals start next week.
Good luck all!
