NCTC LVN Program Info

U.S.A. Texas

]Hello All,

]I'm looking for any information in regards to the NCTC LVN nursing program. My questions are as such: Are there any prereqs, shots that I should try and have done now, etc., I'm trying to make sure I give myself a good chance in getting accepted. I'm looking to try and get admitted for the January 2010 class. I'm interested also in any info for the ONLINE program as well (shots, prereqs, process, etc.,)

]-Thanks in advance!:specs:

Yeah, I handed out my reference sheets today, I don't know where you live but I have found the CPR class for $45.00 thru http://www.cprtrainingandmore.com/ there located in Richardson but they offer the class at other locations. I am going to try to get the CPR, drug screen, and Physical completed next week. The good thing about the transcripts is that they only want copies. I feel overwhelmed just thinking about all of the studying we are about to do. Seven of my closes friends are R.N.s and I remember how tough it was for them.

I live in Las Colinas. I see online CPR classes, but I am not sure if I should trust them. My physical is tomorrow and I have sent out my reference forms, but I called and spoke with Raichelle who said that I could bring them in on Nov 20th. I am a little scared to trust that though...My drug screen will get done next week too. Everything else will be a breeze once I get past these ref forms, physical and the screen. :)

I saw some of the online classes too, I took the drug screen today and mailed my references. I will take my physical and CPR class next week Monday. This is already stressful, I find myself question everything like is the Post office going to get my references to the school in time? Is the lab going to get my results to the school in time? So I don't blame you, I guess because their are so many people waiting for a spot and it sounds like one oversight can get you out of the program. Your already doing good having the physical completed early.

Congrats to everyone who made it =)

I got my acceptance packet earlier this week!!!:yeah:

I have been busy getting the drug test done, rec letters handed out, etc, all taken care of. I was also told the same thing about the rec letters, just bring them to orientation on Nov 20th. I have it in writing via email so if there are any problems, at least I have proof I was told it was okay to bring them to orientation. It is going to be a long and fun year and I can't wait!!

Is anyone ordering their skills kits or scrubs now or waiting until orientation? Also, it did not state in the packet when we need to purchase the books, I saw the list but no date so I am assuming we will find out at orientation?

Congrats again to everyone, see you on the 20th!

Congratulations,

I am waiting until after orientation to purchase the kit, I have started getting some prices for the books and scrubs though. I found a website that has the tops for $9.99 and the bottoms for $11.99 medicalscrubsmall.com. There was another website that had scrubs a couple of dollars cheaper if you purchased the top and bottoms together but I didn't save it. I think as long as you have the books before class starts your fine.

For those of you that got accepted, what is the average testing score on the HESI that you need. I am trying to get in to the NCTC FALL 2010 class and just took my test. I scored an 85 percent and wanted to know if this would be good enough. Thanks.

I am going to the infomation class in Corinth on Wednesday, and I was wondering if anyone could give a any helpful hints as far as studying for the test is concerned.

I would like to know what you thought about the test? I am taking mine on the 27th of March, and I am a little nervous about it.

Would someone tell me about 3rd semester clinical at NCTC this summer?

Dear MMR: I was told by several instructors that the lowest score that made it into the prior LVN classes was around a low A or high B...

I graduated from NCTC Gainesville in December.... 3rd semester clinical for us was very different than the first two. We did about half the semester at hospitals, then the other half we were separated into much smaller groups or even on our own to go to the different sites. Some went to a psych facility, some to doctor's offices, and some went to both. I don't know if that is the way they will do it with yall, but we really liked it. Being on our own really helped us learn to do things for ourselves than rely on having a group of people to help you with every little thing.

Any questions yall have about the program, help with testing, whatever, just let me know. (I don't want to brag, but I was valedictorian so I know my stuff!)

Dear MMR: Have you received your acceptance letter to the Fall 2010 NCTC class? I heard they're supposed to send them out soon
